Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to sit down with one of our regulars and talk a bit about life. As the conversation continued on, the topic of Lent came up. Lent is the season in the church where some people choose to give up something as a reminder of Jesus’ sacrifice for the world. She brought up something that a priest once told her. He said that instead of giving something up, we should set aside time to serve our neighbor. I thought that was a pretty great idea. What if instead of giving things up, we reached out toward our neighbor in service?
